Positional Offense
We consider positional attack when the attacking team has the opportunity to score a goal against an already structured defense, organizing and coordinating actions of all the players participating in the attack in order to effectively occupy the areas of the court and to ensure an orderly character to the offensive actions of the players (Cercel, 1980 in Montoya 2010).
Fastbreak
The fastbreak is the first attack phase of the attack and occurs when the defending team manages to recover possession of the ball through its own success or someone else’s error making a very fast transition (defense-attack) to achieve goal before the opposing team can organize their defense. We have different types of Fastbreak: Direct, 2nd Wave or Sustained. Inside handball.ai we standardize everything under the parameter FASTBREAK.
Countergoal
The countergoal is the first attack phase and occurs when after receiving a goal the defending team makes a fast center kick off trying to achieve a goal before the opposing team can organize their defense.
Handball Match System
Defense System

Equality

Types: 6vs6, 5+1vs6, 5vs5, 4+1vs5, 4vs4, 3vs3…
Superiority
Situation where the team with ball possession has a higher number of offense players against a smaller number of defense players.
Types: 7vs6, 5+1vs5, 4+1vs4…
Inferiority
Situation where the team with ball possession in offense has fewer players than the team in defense.
Types: 5vs6, 4+1vs5 and Others.

Player Score
Result of applying a mathematical algorithm that takes into consideration the time of the event, the character of the event (+/-) and the result on the score. Will be developed taking in consideration the execution position and phase.
